northern berkshire county murders

so there was a murder in my hometown i just was googling

cynthia 'rocky' krizack disapeared walking from her house on southworth street to the williams college sawyer library  in 1976 when she was a 17 year old hs senior at mt greylock regional high school in williamstown, mass

she would have graduated 2 years after my sis and my sis knew her
she disapeared the day after her 17th birthday

pictures of you
kim benoit, cynthia 'rocky' krizack, 14 year old dawn smith from north adams and carol ann todd all were allegedly killed within ~ 2 years of each other, between 1974 and 1977

within 4 weeks of cynthia 'rocky' krizack's murder cheryl mull was choked with jumper cables by a man in the back seat of her car after leaving her pm shift at price chopper in bennington vermont, about 10 miles north of williamstown mass
and in in august of the next year, 1977, eileen gilooley, a pownal school teacher living in north adams who had organized a search for carol ann todd and found her purse by the hairpin turn, was molested and beaten in her home
this is a work in progress so...

i remember my friends and i searched for cynthia 'rocky' krizack in the woods next to the golf course we lived next to
i had kind of forgotten about it and never found out she had been found dead until a few years ago googling her, and they had found her body shortly after she disappeared
one time my friends and i were about to walk back thru the woods to my house when we heard a noise like a large person or animal walking through the leaves but we didnt see anyone as it was quite dark
so i just found out that within a year of rocky's disapearence carol ann todd was murdered in the next town over's sheraton hotel, allegedly by a work release prisoner who was allowed to work at the hotel

love thy neighbor
our next door neighbor let a guy that had been looking into her windows (besides me) into her home and he became her boyfriend
it is difficult for me to remember now for some reason - the trial was in the news almost every day and i have a very clear recollection of our neighbor reportedly crying out in court 'you can't put him back in prison they will kill him' !
her boyfriend was the alleged murderer but i forget how the trial turned out
rfk jr writes succincly and convincingly about the martha moxely murder in connecticut
martha was next door neighbors to rushton skakel
ethyl skakel was rushton's sister and became ethyl kennedy when she married rfk
the tutor that had just been hired that night had been charged with the murder failed two lie detector tests asking if he killed the victim but was not convicted and the skakel's son michael was, but his conviction was overturned
the tutor was a williams college graduate who coached and played rugby and he had been investigated in rocky's case
so i played kickball with the neighbor's boyfriend and the tutor was a williams kid and so i don't really believe either one was guilty of murder

cynthia rocky krizack's mom's obit

cynthia 'rocky' krizack was a child actress at the williamstown theater festival which her mom was involved with...

the rocky horror picture show was released in 1975 a year before her disapearance and aparent murder
22 year old paula snyder of pittsfield was also found murdered in windsor, mass, which is just east and south of dalton, in 1986 after being seen hitchhiking

if you remember the martha moxley murder one of the suspects was a williams grad who had also been investigated for three of the local murders, with rfk jr saying there had been murders near all the places he moved to after.
he tried to kill himself in boston after jfk jr's plane crashed
earlier he had moved back to williamstown in 1988
'The town got back on the map and into statewide newspapers during 1977, but it, was, more than anything else, for the discovery of the body of Carol Ann Todd, a Falmouth school teacher, apparently murdered in late 1976...

Crime produced the most sensational events of the year: a murder, an attempted murder, the discovery of a dead baby, rapes and a rash of assaults on police officers;
By far, the saddest and most gruesome tale was that of Ms. Todd, whose badly decomposed body was discovered May 29 in the forest near Monroe Stale Prison.
The young teacher, visiting the city for a weekend, disappeared from a blood-spattered room of the Sheraton Inn Dec. 12, 1976. Although police suspected a murder, search parties looked in vain for a body during the cold winter months and in early spr- ing.

The two hikers who finally made the discovery said they were attracted to the victim by a foul odor. Law enforcement officials charged 30-year-old Robert A. Nimblett with first degree murder in the case. Mr. Nimblett, a resident at the local prison at the time of the disappearance, is now incarcerated at Walpole State Prison awaiting an April trial. A North Adams native, 19-year-old John J. Singer, also was charged in the case as an accessory after the fact of murder.

Two months later on Aug. Eileen Gillooly, 53, was beaten and molested while she slept alone in her Beaver Street home. That event, coupled with a report that 16-year-old Debra Morin of 8 Secor Ave. was accosted by a knife-wielding stranger Aug. 7, sent a chill up the spines of many city women.'

'The day before he was scheduled to go on Christmas furlough, Ms. Todd's pocketbook and other personal belongings were found over an embankment below the Hairpin Turn on Route 2. Rumors began flying that a body in a shallow grave also had been discovered. Mr. Nimblett said he received news of the find at the hotel from a state trooper who warned him, "We'll be descending on you pretty soon." The officer said he would check at the police station on what had been found, and return. "After about an hour, I heard nothing so I went over and asked them 'Listen, am I under arrest or It turned out just to be a little joke they were playing." The convict was transferred back to Walpole, Jan. 7. The only official explanation that ever has been given for the action is that it was "in conjunctin with an investigation by the Berkshire district attorney's office and the Mass. State Police." '

'Carol Todd came to North Adams Friday Dec. 10, driving from school with Carl Cellana, a city native. They had been dating several years, since they were students at North Adams State College. She often accompanied him when he returned to his hometown to visit his children from a previous marriage. She checked into the hotel about 7 p.m., and Mr. Cellana went to his parents' home on Goodrich Street. They saw each other a couple of times over the weekend, and breakfasted together Sunday morning. Carl Cellana called North Adams poiice about 10 p.m. Sunday. He was quite worried because he had tried to reach Miss Todd several times that afternoon and was unable to get an answer. He had gone to the hotel and asked manager Jack Wilson to open her door, but Mr. Wilson said he couldn't unless Mr. Cellana was ac- companied by a policeman. When the door was opened, police found the room stripped of Miss Todd's belongings. There were two spots on the carpet in the floor that later were positively identified as bloodstains. In the Inn's trash dumpster, they found sheets with a considerable amount of blood on them, and shoes and boots identified as Miss Todd's.'
'Over the next few days, police in- vestigators questioned hotel employes and anyone else they thought might be able to provide a clue to Miss Todd's disappearance.
People search
A city woman, who teaches school in Pownal, Vt., organized a group of volunteers to search for some design of Miss Todd. Eileen Gillooly said she felt someone ought to do something to show community concern. The volunteers found Miss Todd's pocketbook and school textbooks Dec. 23. The articles were over an embankment at the Hairpin Turn on the Mohawk Trail.

The articles were over an embankment at the Hairpin Turn on the Mohawk Trail. The next day, searchers found her wallet. Since then, about the only other break police have had in the case was a Grand Jury hearing in April. District Atty. William R. Flynn Jr. summoned about 30 witnesses, in- cluding the man police seem to be eyeing as a suspect, to give evidence to the Grand Jury.'

4. i think the alleged murderer in the transcript stories and our neighbor's boyfriend must be 2 different people
he had lived with our neighbor for i believe a year or more before the trial and the newspaper story says that suspect was on work release from monroe correctional facilty and had been directly transferred to walpole during the investigation
i remember a different name and one of the members of this group's parent who sadly just passed away knew who he was and said he used to have the nickname 'showboat'

so maybe i shouldn't tell this but...

when the fountain of wayne song 'stacy's mom' was released and became successful it reminded me of our next door neighbors (plural)

our next door neighbor (on the southern side) was alleged to be a nudist when she was inside her house and the group member's parent who sadly passed away recently said he was driving past our next door neighbor on the north and almost crashed when he saw her sunbathing in the nude in the back yard...

...then i found out fountains of wayne were formed at williams

often mentioned with these murders was a young woman in bennington who worked at price chopper got into her car after work at night and a man hiding in her back seat wrapped a pair of jumper cables around her neck and began strangling her and she became unconscious

a police had allegedly just passed by and noticed her car headlights on and  apparently no-one in the car

he turned around to check and the assailent reportedly turned the car headlights off and fled on foot

the woman survived

the moxley murder is not solved either

michael skakel's conviction was overturned
o j framer mark fuhrman was a nazi and wrote about the moxley murder implicating the kennedys

ron and nicole's murders aren't solved either

rocky's mom was jewish

'Besides Tom Skakel and the other neighbor these included Franz Wittine, a German gardener who lived in the Skakels' basement and liked to boast of how he had raped and beaten girls as a soldier during World War II.'

'"In the early morning of Nov. 2, 1976, less than four weeks after Krizack's murder, 21-year-old Cheryl Mull of Bennington was found unconscious in her car, with battery cables wrapped around her neck. She had left her job at Price Chopper shortly after midnight, only to find a mysterious man hiding in the backseat of her car. When she got in, he promptly attempted to strangle her with the cables, but was scared off when a local police officer drove by and, seeing what appeared to be an empty car with its headlights on, turned back to investigate. He quickly switched off the headlights and fled on foot. After she was taken to the hospital, six local and state officers searched the nearby woods but failed to find anyone. The mysterious assailant was never caught."'

'LIACOS, J. In June, 1983, a Berkshire County grand jury returned four indictments against the defendant, Andrew M. Todd, charging him with murder in the first degree, assault with intent to murder, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, and carrying a firearm without legal authority. In October of that year, a jury found the defendant guilty on all four indictments.'
'Shortly after 10 P.M. on May 18, 1983, while working at the Modern Aluminum
Anodizing Corporation in North Adams, the victim, Tammy Peckham, was shot to death by a person who fired a shotgun at her through a factory window. She was eighteen years old at the time of her death, and was the girl friend of the defendant. The defendant and the victim had a tumultuous relationship in which marriage had been discussed. They had lived together intermittently during the four-year period before the victim's death; they had one child.'

'The saga of Carol Todd's disap- pearance began Dec. 12, 1976. That was the day she disappeared from a third-floor room at the Sheraton North Adams Inn. Although police officially had to classify the case as that of a missing person, they treated it as a homicide investigation. Foul play Just short of six months later, the head of the investigating unit is perhaps even more convinced that foul play had a part in Miss Todd's disappearance. Carol Todd came to North Adams Friday Dec. 10, driving from school with Carl Cellana, a city native. They had been dating several years, since they were students at North Adams State College.'

6. whether it has any bearing or not, these murders and assaults occurred shortly before and after the church committee hearings which led to the church reforms in intelligence gathering
the 1975 church and pike investigations are alleged to be the reason richard helms, williams '35, had the government's copies of the mk ultra mind control records destroyed in 1973 just before the 1974 seymour hersh expose labelled 'the family jewels' by the press brought to light unwarranted domestic surveilance on u s ctizens, mk ultra and black operation rendition programs made famous by 'the bourne identity' and 'the osterman weekend' novels by robert ludlum
dr sidney gottleib was put in charge of the project by helms and allen dulles and one of the goals was to create programmed assassins
nbc news says the u s tried to assassinate fidel castro 634 times:

the 1974 mk ultra expose was written by the now legendary investigative reporter seymore hersh, whom the movie 'the bourne identity' memoralizes by naming the investigative reporter jason bourne tells about the c i a's black operations after
robert ludlum also wrote the osterman weekend about the u s intelligence community's 4th amendment infracting spy operations on u s citizens within the u s without warrants
there were ostermans in williamstown

7. And other murders...August of '73, an unidentified young man was found along a roadway near Rindge, NH, just north of Gardner. Cause of death was not quickly determined, though it was thought he had been hit by or pushed from a moving vehicle. Then, again in September, an unidentified hispanic male was stabbed to death in Petersburg, NY. He was found at a rest stop, mere miles from VT and MA.

- websleuths november 1974 - october 1976

'In February of '73, Mark Twohey, 19, was stabbed to death and left in a field in Gardner, MA (in the northeast-north central area of the state).

May '73, 18 year-old Donna Boudreau was found in a heavily wooded area near Fitchburg (some 20 miles from Gardner). Cause of death had yet to be determined. She had not been sexually assaulted.
September of '73, Judith Bieweg, 31, was found stabbed to death in the woods near her Townsend, MA home (10 miles from Fitchburg). She was not sexually assaulted.'
